BlogCharm — Paid Ads are running!

Wednesday, March 1st, 2006

Now on BlogCharm members will get paid for each visit to their blog.

If you look at the thinbar at the top of your blog you will see a text ad there now!

Some things to note

- Earnings are calculated every 24 hours and not posted until then

- Members are paid for unique visits only

Until we have a chance to fully test our ad-serving software under load, we have set a daily max of 500 paid impressions per day per account. This will give us time to further test the anti-cheat scripts that we have in place and make sure that everyone is playing by the rules.

What happens next?

BlogCharm has a couple of in-house ads running now, but moving forward we will start to implement other ads as well. We have approached several advertising companies to negotiate deals for running ads on BlogCharm and will have to wait and see what types of CPMs we are offered and go from there.

What is happening with site sponsorships?

Over the next week we will also negotiate deals for site sponsorships. First things first, we have to make sure that the paid text ads are running properly.

Are you charmed? Want to get paid to blog?

BlogCharm is getting closer to our March 1st date and with over 1000 members already we are looking forward to a big launch!

Now when you login to BlogCharm you will see your Ad Center that keeps track of how much money you have made. As of February 24th you will be able to add your Paypal information and get ready for our March 1st launch.

How BlogCharm works?

BlogCharm members get paid to blog every time your blog is seen. We offer a variety of advertising options where members share in the total revenues generated by the site whether it be shared blog inventory or blog site sponsorships. Additional options will be added moving forward and as BlogCharm gets larger means that the advertising prices will increase as well which will result in more money in your pockets!

How does the AdScrubber work?

There will be people that unfortunately will try to cheat the system which steals money from the rest of the honest members.

The AdScrubber is a program that checks your traffic each day for

- total visits

- unique visits

- comments

- quality of content

- plus several other behind the scenes things that we monitor for potential cheaters

This means if you are simply refreshing your page all the time that you will not get paid for those visits. Also for members trying to use automation software to increase their visits, we will also be implementing checks to keep members honest.

How are BlogCharm sponsorships determined?

Each 30 days or so we will have new sponsors that advertise on the main page and in the directory that pay a flat sponsorship fee each month. We split that sponsorship revenue with members 50-50 and that money will be added to your account automatically each month. We will announce the sponsor, the sponsorship details and will be updated on HelpMeBlog each time.

So make sure to login to BlogCharm and add your Paypal information (Feb 24th). From there we will be gradually integrating the paid ads into rotation as we get closer to our March 1st launch.

So tell me more about how I make money on BlogCharm?

Just a quick note that we have addressed several bugs in BlogCharm including your personal profile page that was not displaying birth dates correctly.

We have received hundreds of ideas to make the service better still and our team is dedicated to making BlogCharm the best it can be.

Also we want to send out a huge thanks to everyone who has been helping explain how things work on BlogCharm to other new members. It keeps the number of incoming support tickets down and again I appreciate all of your help. We are really busy right now and with members helping us it allows the BE team to concentrate on programming and developing.

So the big question we are getting obviously is how will members of BlogCharm get paid?

- I can tell you that all payouts (no exceptions) will be made via Paypal because it offers us the best protection against cheaters.

- I can tell you that payouts will be based on a variety of factors including total traffic, total unique traffic, total number of posts, total number of quality posts (so members that post 40 times a day with junk will be paid accordingly) and number of comments. There will be an extensive formula applied to calculate member payouts.

- I can tell you that BlogCharm members will have different options in terms of making money with your blog and includes some really innovative and progressive ideas that no other blog host is doing right now. We will find the best paying options to maximize earnings for all BlogCharm members.

- I can tell you that you will make money with your blog each and every day. We want to set reasonable expections here and you may not be making tons of money (especially for new blogs) but you will be making something each day.

We will be asking BlogCharm members to set up their payment options over the next few weeks as we approach the March 1st launch. We will also be staging various tests with paid ads over that time to make sure we are ready. Lots of more information will be released each week so keep blogging and get ready as we get closer to our official launch date.

Updates to BlogCharm

Wednesday, January 25th, 2006

First of all a big thanks to everyone who has signed up to BlogCharm so far and helping us by forwarding bugs in the software and providing quality feedback. We have made several updates since yesterday and things are running much better already.

BlogCharm network stats to date

Total Users:  526 users

Total Weblogs:  557 weblogs

Total Entries:  874 entries

Total Comments:  101 comments

Now we realize that membership growth will not continue at this rate and that many blogs activated yesterday still do not have posts on them yet, but overall the BlogExplosion team is very happy with the response we received so far.

Recent Changes Made

1. Both the Network Stats and Who’s Online is visible from the main page on the bottom left at any time.

2. On member blogs in the top thinbar the Random Blog link is now working. We hope to add some additional scripting where the random blog feature only brings you to the most recently updated blogs rather than any blog currently in the system.

3. The BlogCharm Blog Directory is now working where we display blogs by category. You can also see that the Blog Directory will also be a sponsored area where members share in any sponsorship revenues generated.

Known Bugs Still

1. Handling of profile information like birthday not showing up properly on your member profile page

2. Search

3. Some potential copy-paste issues in post builder for specific browsers

Remember this site is only a couple days old and there is lots of work to be done still over the next month. We too see the areas of concern in terms of managing your blog and we are working on improving all tools across the site to make BlogCharm easier to use.

BlogExplosion Blog Hosting - BlogCharm - Get paid to blog!

Are you Charmed?

Why not get paid for something you love to do?

Join BlogCharm the free blog host where members get paid to blog!

BlogCharm will be introducing a whole new way for bloggers to enjoy building a blog and get paid doing it!

Our question to bloggers everywhere…

Why should blog hosts keep all of the revenue when it is the bloggers that do all of the hard work?

So how do I get paid and how does BlogCharm work?

BlogCharm will pay members by splitting all advertising inventory and sponsorships.

- On member blogs the top thinbar will contain text ads where members will share 50% of the inventory and revenues generated from them. This will be a mixture of paid ads where members get paid each time their blog is seen and not just when somebody clicks on an advertisement which works much differently than programs like AdSense. Each time your blog is seen you get paid !!

- BlogCharm even goes further to make money for members where we split site sponsorship revenues 50/50 as well.

For example. If we sell a main page sponsorship for $500 per month members will split 50% of the total take. Nobody else is doing this!

NOTE: BlogCharm members will still be able to add AdSense ads directly on their blogs and earn 100% of those revenues

When can I start making money on BlogCharm?

The BlogExplosion team is coding the Ad Center now where members can track how much money they are making from their BlogCharm blog.

Expected Launch Date of the BlogCharm Ad Center : March 1st

Eventhough the paid advertising is not turned on yet it still makes sense to develop your blog and build your readership now. The more you have developed your blog between now and March 1st means the more revenue you will be making once we leave BETA

BlogCharm is still in BETA and we need help over the next month or so getting everything operational.

Known BlogCharm issues to be addressed

- search

- blog directory

- random next blog

- keeping logged in properly across all browsers

Get blogging and help us build up a network of blogs so we can demand more money for site sponsorships! As a blog network everyone will be included in the rewards and as the bigger the blog network grows the more we can sell sponsorships for. That means more money to you!

Check out BlogCharm now and get blogging!
